01. The challenge
Last year, STIB saw the largest increase in passenger numbers in ten years. Many passengers use the handy MOBIB system and load new journeys or subscriptions on their electronic chip card at STIB’s commercial partners, such as Actiris, Relay or Delhaize.
However, the system for these charges was outdated. Partner companies Econocom and Upfront therefore developed a new browser-based solution in collaboration with the end customer and asked Eutronix to put together the adapted hardware solution.
02. Our response
Eutronix listened carefully to the needs of STIB, its software partners and STIB’s commercial partners and proposed a unique solution in the form of a mini kiosk. It combines a compact Windows 10 PC with a 10 “touch screen, an RFID reader for the chip cards and a thermal printer for the receipts. Eutronix also provided the SDK / APIs and technical support to seamlessly connect the various components, so that the commercial partners only had to connect the solution to their router and could get started right away.
03. The proposed solution
- Compact Windows 10-10 “” touch PC Mini Kiosk
- RFID reader
- Thermal printer
04. The result
Unlike in the past, the mini kiosks no longer need to be updated every time a product changes. Changes are made online and are therefore available in real time on the browser-based mini kiosk. The chip cards themselves are also charged in real time. STIB was so satisfied with the solution offered that it quickly increased its initial order of 150 mini kiosks to 180 units.
